Role Summary

We are seeking a Project Management Director to provide innovative approaches to management and drive the successful delivery of Washington Woodworking’s diverse portfolio of projects. This role will supervise multiple project teams, coordinate closely with executives, partners, and stakeholders, and provide financial, operational, and administrative oversight. The Director will be accountable for project implementation, continuous evaluation of operations, and ensure that each project begins and ends on schedule, within budget.

This position is fully on-site; candidates seeking remote work will not be considered.

Duties & Responsibilities Leadership & Oversight

  • Provide overall leadership for the project management department and ensure projects are executed safely, on time, on budget, and to specification.
  • Supervise diverse teams across various projects, setting expectations and driving accountability.
  • Give direction and guidance to Project Managers, Project Engineers, and cross-functional partners while requiring little oversight themselves.

Project Execution & Delivery

  • Oversee all aspects of project setup, scheduling, material procurement, shop orders, installation, and closeout.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications and client requirements.
  • Develop and manage project plans, budgets, scope, and resources.
  • Identify and manage risks, strategically mitigating issues before they affect cost, schedule, or quality.
  • Monitor finances and ensure each project meets profitability targets.
  • Analyze project performance and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Liaise with external stakeholders, including GCs, architects, and owners, to ensure successful delivery of projects.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, driving trust and repeat business opportunities.
  • Provide timely updates to executives and stakeholders on project progress, risks, and outcomes.

Process & Continuous Improvement

  • Implement standardized PM processes, templates, and reporting using ERP and Smartsheet.
  • Continuously evaluate operations and identify opportunities to improve project processes, reduce rework, and increase efficiency.
  • Support companywide Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.

Supervisory & Travel

  • Regularly travel to project sites to monitor progress and ensure alignment with company standards.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop project teams, fostering accountability and growth.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Project Management, Construction Management, or related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive project management experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven track record overseeing multiple, complex projects ($1M–$10M+) from start to finish.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to motivate and manage diverse teams.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with a detail-oriented mindset while maintaining big-picture oversight.
  • Strong math, financial, and analytical skills to monitor budgets and margins.
  • Proficiency in relevant project management tools (Smartsheet, MS Project, ERP platforms, or similar).
  • Ability to build and maintain trust with clients, executives, and partners.
  • Deep experience mitigating risk through proactive project planning, with a strong command of contract structures, terms, and compliance.
  • Skilled in contract negotiation, ensuring favorable outcomes while protecting company interests and maintaining strong client and partner relationships.
